I’ll get you for this yarn-man.

This yarn is dyed on my Dobby Sock base. Like a diamond in the rough, you’ll find a hidden treasure of cashmere in this otherwise ordinary-looking sock yarn. It’s soft to the touch, but ready to stand up to any project you might throw at it.

This colorway is tie-dyed.  This means the colors are applied in layers, with different parts of the yarn restricted in each layer so it doesn’t absorb the dye. The color repeats in tie-dyeing are short and more random and will vary throughout the hank of yarn and within the same dye lot.  What this means for your projects is there are more colors because of the overlapping as the dye is applied and they are less likely to pool.

This colorway is speckled dyed.  It’s a fun method where dry dye powder is applied directly to wet yarn.  The size of the sections will vary based on the colorway.  Many have large sections of undyed yarn.  This means that most speckle dyed yarn will give you pops of color throughout your project.

This colorway is tie-dyed and speckle dyed.  This means the colors are applied in layers, with different parts of the yarn restricted in each layer so it doesn’t absorb the dye. After layers of dye is applied, it is then speckle dyed.  It’s a fun method where dry dye powder is applied directly to wet yarn.  The size of the sections will vary based on the colorway.   What this means for your projects is there are more colors because of the overlapping as the dye is applied and they are less likely to pool and the speckles give a nice pop of color contracting the tie-dyed colors.

Don’t just toss this yarn into the washing machine like a discarded piece of laundry – you might risk losing it forever. I recommend for this base that you hand wash the yarn itself or any finished items using a gentle detergent or wool wash. Then lay flat to dry, or pin it into shape to block. Take good care of it and this yarn will stand by you through thick and thin!
